Park Beach Holiday Park and Woolgoolga Lakeside Holiday Park have won top prizes in the 2016 Caravan and Camping Industry Association (CCIA) NSW Awards of Excellence – the most prestigious industry awards in the state.
Park Beach won in the Best Holiday Park North Coast (over 100 sites) category, while Woolgoolga Lakeside brought home the top award in the Best Holiday Park North Coast (100 sites or less) category. Park Beach Holiday Park was named ‘Best of the Best’ Park in the same awards in 2014. Park Beach was also named ‘Best of the Best’ Holiday Park/Resort for the second time.
“These awards recognise the best parks, products and services the industry in NSW has to offer, so it’s fantastic to see our Holiday Parks win,” said Coffs Harbour Mayor, Councillor Denise Knight.
Both Parks had to demonstrate that they had good quality facilities and guest services.
Park Beach Holiday Park saw its customer satisfaction score rise to 94% in 2015/2016 and it has also seen the length of time customers stay increase from 1.9 nights in 2006/2007 to 3.31 nights last year. “Turning Park Beach into a destination rather than an overnight stop has been a key long-term aim,” said Jason Bailey, Manager Holiday Parks and Reserves. “The longer stays – and the fact that our repeat visitation rose last year to 27% – shows that our strategy of providing value-added services and facilities is paying off.”
Similarly, Woolgoolga Lakeside Holiday Park saw strong growth in 2015/2016 with an increase in revenue – the profits of which are used to improve local public reserves and the Park facilities – of 16% to nearly $670,000. It also enjoyed a rise in the length of stays with an average over the year of 5.33 nights.
A typical review of Woolgoolga Lakeside Holiday Park said: “We recently stayed in our van in the park. What a great little gem! The park is not large which is a good plus, has very good and clean amenities, is pet friendly and is located in a quiet/secluded setting…We took a ‘stab’ at selecting this park and are glad we did. Well done – we’ve rebooked.”
Sean Hone, Council’s Holiday Parks Manager Operations, was also Runner-Up in the ‘Employee of the Year – Holiday, Tourist, Resort Parks’ category. The judges were impressed by his ability to successfully manage complex capital projects, day-to-day operations and get the best out of his team through excellent people skills.
The Award-winners were announced on October 11 at a Gala Celebration on Sydney Harbour.
